about

As far as we're aware, this is the first and likely only physical release from Amarillo's (only?) noise duo Plastic Mayan Staircase. In the true freak spirit of Amarillo, the band never recorded in a studio proper, & mostly existed as an entity playing guerrilla shows in parks and backyards around town. The recording here is documentation of a live set at the studio of our friend Drew Holder, whose work as Lavatone you may be familiar with.

To my ears, the music sound kin to the noisier end of early industrial music, spoken voice over unhinged pulsing static. A nightmare of swirling dust.
