about

Around the time Ryan and Tyler recorded this at a studio in Lubbock, I caught a duo set of theirs at a cafe across the street from the high school that Buddy Holly attended. They filled the small stage with a wild number of electronic devices and cables and improvised their way through some sounds similar to what you hear on Dialogue.

It wasn't exactly a Listening Room type of environment, nor was it meant to be. There was chatter, I remember a child being invited on stage to play the modular synth for a bit. I don't think that implies a lack of focus or intention, but rather an appreciation for the joy in a public music practice. You'll hear Tyler's jazz chops in the harmonies, and you'll hear the detailed sound design in Ryan's elaborate synth rig.

We're happy to have Dialogue on FS. Talking with Tyler about this recording was the initial impetus to start our Llano Disc series. Hope you enjoy it.
