about
FS005 - Andrew Weathers / Noose of Laurels
This split is a tour of drastically different styles of experimental sound composition. On the first half, Noose of Laurels (Jeff Bumiller, also of Northern Valentine) takes the listener on a journey through tiny gestures which melt into a dense drone. Low sound-masses lurch back and forth, occasionally augmented by high piercing tones. Here, Noose of Laurels' work is monolithic, close to the impenetrable sound art of Francisco Lopez. Weathers, on the second half, uses large, delicate gestures to move silence into audible territory. He weaves found sound and slide guitar together into a colorful collage, reminiscent of the glitch music of early Fennesz. All in all, the collection is a challenging journey through the work of two drastically different artists.
